Le relais des Mamans/ The playgroup

Tous les mercredis matins, des mamans, mamies et assistantes maternelles se retrouvent au centre culturel de Castleknock de 10h à 12h. Ce matin était la première fois depuis la rentrée scolaire. Je dois avouer que j'ai mis longtemps à me décider si je m'y rendrais ou pas. D'un côté, j'avais un peu la nostalgie des groupes de mamans à Marple où je connaissait tout le monde. Mais d'un autre côté, je me suis dit qu'il fallait que je me motive pour Lenny d'une part et pour moi d'autre part, pour ne pas rester enfermée chez moi. Finalement je n'ai pas regretté d'y être allée car:

- les jeux sont très bien entretenus et originaux

- les mamans ont l'air sympa

- Lenny s'est finalement bien amusé après avoir passé 20 bonnes minutes dans mes bras à faire son timide pour ne plus vouloir partir à la fin ;-)

- J'ai rencontré une maman américaine, qui, devinez quoi: est arrivée il y a deux semaines ici, comme moi, et dont le mari est chercheur à IBM dans la même équipe que Freddy. Le monde est si petit! Evidemment il est trop tôt pour dire si nous allons devenir les meilleurs amies et nous voir tous les jours mais nous avons deux points en commun: étrangères à Castleknock et épouses de chercheurs!

- J'ai rencontré une autre maman, Irlandaise, qui habite à Castleknok depuis 6 ans et qui m'a donné plein de bons plans et d'idées de sorties dans la région.

Every Wednesday there is a playgroup at the Castleknock Community Centre, it has re-opened today after the summer term. I have to admit that I hesitated before going there. On the one hand I was nostalgic of the groups in Marple where I met two of my very good friends (Ellie and Lauren) and lots of other nice mums. On the other hand I thought I HAD TO get out of the house for Lenny but also to know people. I finally turned out there and it was worth it because:

-the toys are very good quality and quite clean

- the mums seem really nice

- Lenny finally had fun after 20 minutes on my knees being shy to eventually throw a big tantrum when it was time to tidy up and leave ;-)

- I have met an American mum who arrived here two weeks ago, like me, and whose husband works for IBM in the same project as my husband! They both started their new job on 1st September. It is such a small word, isn't it?! We share at least two things: we are foreigners and researchers' wives!

- I have also met an Irish mum who is very nice and welcoming. She had lived in Castleknock for 6 years so could give me a few tips about what to do with kids in the area.
